Birth of Music, Parts I-IV

Part I: Acknowledgement

In the beginning, man served silence
That life, colorless and void of
Mark, great tessellation of pitch undiscovered
Was lived in darkness

From the darkness materialized a break in order,
A disturbance of the flatline,
A vibration upon the frozen air,
A wave in still water.

Acknowledged, this wave dissipated and disappeared
It emerged once again in a spirit of gleeful discovery
And again. And again.
And again.

The first color, I believe, was blue
One solitary spot of navy,
Bright against the endless black,
Existing and dying to await emergence once again.

Part II: Resolution

Line of blue, line of blue
Hit, smash, boom, bang!
Hear now, here and now
Hit, smash, boom, bang!
Lighting up the ceaseless dark
Hit, smash, boom, ting?
Ting?
Ting?

Stars awaken, worlds collide
Colors bursting in my mind
What to pair with all this blue?
Something else we never knew?
What is this that I have found?
This aching heart begins to pound
Galaxy and universe
The color red, to be rehearsed!

Part III: Pursuance

Like blood across the torrid ground,
Red did seep and spread
What novel pigment!
What spectacular palette!

I fuse, combine, exercise my will to create
I force my bruising fist into stagnation
And make it malleable, rippling progress!

Pulled from it, enclosed in clenched fingers,
Something shone and appeared for a single, solitary moment
Searching, shifting, finding,
Yellow was created.

Part IV: Psalm

For all our dissonance in acknowledging our woes
Our resolute comfort will never satisfy
Pursuant in progress and vanquishing our foes
Let this Psalm be sung until our spirit dies!
