Dear Old Vincent

Dear old Vincent, where did you go?
Painting your dreams from a hospital window
Lend me your ears, wish I could lend you mine
But the beauty of the world is held in your eye

Starry night and starry bright
Beautiful strokes of blue tonight
Won’t you show me how to see
The world as it’s meant to be
Hope they didn’t cut you down
Like a flower in a vase and now
I hope that heaven above
Is all you dreamed it’d be

Dear old Vincent, where have you gone?
I’m struggling to find that something to rely on
I was hoping, you should show me how to paint
And tell whether or not this art is a waste of time to make

Starry night and starry bright
Beautiful strokes of blue tonight
Won’t you show me how to see
The world as it’s meant to be
Hope they didn’t cut you down
like a flower in a vase and now
I hope that heaven above
Is all you dreamed it’d be
