Mack

I was in a world of men
It was a world I aimed to mend
Cleaning up and treating every stain
And when he started drinking
I always got to thinking
That I would break the cycle of this pain

Working in the mill
Working on my own
Working till my fingers bleed
So these kids can have a home
Working all my life
Working to survive
I will give my everything
Just to make things right

I guess I’m just so angry
How all these men have changed me
How they needed me to think for all of them
It’s the weight of being a mother
And losing a younger brother
Who I never got to grieve for way back when

Working in the mill
Working on my own
Working till my fingers bleed
So these kids can have a home
Working all my life
Working to survive
I will give my everything
Just to make things right
